Get your Tickets to Shari Ulrich Today! Concert on Fri, Sept 20th

Tickets are on sale today so get yours early! Our 1st Concert of the season is happening this week, Friday, Sept 20th – Shari Ulrich & Ted Littlemore @ 7:30pm, Civic Centre.

There are likely few Canadians who don’t know the voice of Shari Ulrich. The Juno award winner and BC Entertainment Hall of Fame Inductee has been an unflagging fixture in Canadian music since the early 70’s. She was first heard in the quirky Pied Pumkin playing fiddle, mandolin, dulcimer, flute & sax. Her defection to the Hometown Band and a high profile launch to national recognition led to her solo career as a singer songwriter. She is about to release her 21st album including her work with Pied Pumkin, UHF, and her recent collaboration with Barney Bentall & Tom Taylor and the bluegrass band “The High Bar Gang”. The album was engineered and produced by Shari’s daughter, Julia Graff, currently getting her masters in music in sound recording at McGill. Over the years Shari’s career has included composing for film and television, songwriting education, starting in theatrical productions, television hosting, public speaking, and producing the songwriter showcase series, Bluebird North, nationally and locally.

Shari will be joined by fellow McGill graduate and childhood friend of Julia’s, the wonderful Ted Littlemore, on piano, accordion and vocals. For more information go to: www.shariulrich.com

There is still time to pick up your tickets to the upcoming Community Concert Series on February 28, 2013. Carli and Julie Kennedy are a Canadian powerhouse duo with a musical bond that only identical twins can share. With Carli on vocals and guitar and Julie on vocals and violin, they have developed a sound that is all their own: a fusion of their background in country, folk, jazz, and Celtic music. Originally from the small town of Powell River, these sisters are known for their exceptional harmonies, fine musicality, and sincere songwriting style. An undeniably energetic duo, the Kennedys’ performances bring a mix of toe-tapping tunes and intimate, heartfelt songs to the stage.

Last year they were nominated for five 2012 BC Country Music Awards, including The Ray McAuley Horizon Award, Roots/Canadiana Award, All Star Band Specialty Instrument Award for Julie on fiddle, Producer of the Year (Paul Shatto for Small Town Stories) and Website of the Year, Carli and Julie were also nominated as the Best Live Act for the 2012 Vancouver Island Music Awards. Reviewers, colleagues, and audiences alike describe Carli and Julie as “true pioneers in the folk, jazz and Celtic genres. Carli is bouncy and effortless on her acoustic while Julie works the fiddle like Jimmy Hendrix on an electric guitar” (Lithium Magazine, 2012.) This dynamic duo is winning over a wide range of audiences with maturity beyond their years as instrumentalists, vocalists, and songwriters. With a musical connection reminiscent of other Canadian family groups, such as Leahy and The Rankins, audiences are falling in love with the music of Carli and Julie Kennedy.
